Apple Pie Cocktail: Warm Spiced Apple Cider with Rum
Holiday or season themed cocktails are some of my favorite things about this time of year. Let’s be real, probably at the top of the list. I know you can buy apple cider anytime of the year, but it just feels entirely appropriate to drink more after the apple harvest, being a signature drink of the autumn and winter seasons.
The beauty of apple cider is that is pairs well with so many other juices and ingredients. I’ve got an apple cider pumpkin beer recipe I’ve tried that I’m dying to post about. Apple cider pairs with many juices such as booze, tea, and cranberry; while also working well with spices. In addition to nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon sticks, even try cloves, star anise, or ginger to get some new flavors going.
There is just something about a drink focused on the season that makes you feel all cozy. Warm yummy cocktails on a crisp fall day, my ultimate.
6 oz. apple cider (heated)
2 oz. rum
Splash of vanilla extract
Pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice
1 cinnamon stick
Apple sliced for garnish (optional)
In a glass coffee mug or heat-resistant glass, combine your heated cider, rum, and vanilla. Top with whipped cream. Sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Add cinnamon stick and apple slice for garnish. Enjoy this wonderfully crafted cocktail that will warm your heart… and your chest! Bottoms up!
