“An international cult classic, the iconic men’s Desert boot from the Clarks Originals® Collection was inspired by crepe-soled boots worn by British officers in World War II. Crafted from natural materials including beeswax leather for supreme comfort, its timeless styling and crepe outsole has remained unchanged for over 60 years.” – Clarks
I’ve been searching for a desert boot for ages that hit all my criteria and finally I just had to go to the source. Shopping at the SoHo Clarks location is such a dream! All of the staff were so helpful and communicated well together. One gentleman started assisting me in my search for the perfect fit and was incredibly attentive without being bothersome as some sales experiences at other stores can be. My experience was phenomenal, I kept thinking to myself “this guy is killing it!” I tried on quite a few different styles, materials, and sizes before arriving to the final choice of this beeswax brown leather pair. This guy did all the running back and forth with the most genuine of positive attitudes. It is taking some will power not to go back in there and buy the whole lot of these boots, I love them so much! And it doesn’t hurt that the store is so impeccably decorated, I mean, look at this couch! Can I get one for my apartment?! #yesplease
The genuine beeswax leather is phenomenal and is going to age so well as it forms to my foot. One of the biggest complaints about a knock off desert boot design, and believe me I’ve tried on countless pairs over the years, is the hard sole. Rigid soles have no give, similar to how many dress shoes can be, and don’t lend enough support to combat that flaw. The Dessert Boot design by Clarks though is quite the opposite. The rubber sole allows for great flexibility and support which makes walking around NYC much easier. And when I say walking, let’s be real, I mean running. I waned a pair of Desert Boots that could stand up to trotting around the city on the day to day. And the rubber may look fresh and bright in my photos but as the same with the leather, the rubber will age appropriately, blend in with the rest of the shoe, and effortlessly work towards the aged well crafted desert boot of your dreams.
These Desert Boots have become my go to shoe now and I dare you not to fall in love with them yourself! Check out the wide range of style variations Clarks has to offer on their website!
Next up on my list? The same Desert Boots but perhaps in suede?! Let me know what you think!
