TO THE BLAZE! (of Jack O’Lanterns 🎃)
An activity like this has been on my wish list for ages and I’m so thankful it spontaneously worked out that a friend and I were able to attend. It is one of those seasonal popups that if you don’t think about far enough in advance, tickets sell out insanely quickly. We were able to snag our tickets by posting to their Facebook page looking for ticket holders needing to sell.
This post is coming a little late seeing as we went almost two weeks before Halloween, (our timing was quite festive in that regard) but the event is still going on! This post is more of a reminder for those in the New York area that wanted to see all these intricately carved pumpkins for Halloween but didn’t get the chance. The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze will be running until the last weekend of November. Tickets are still available on their website if you want a last minute day trip from the city with the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
Hand-carved pumpkins (real and imitation) scattered across the grounds in some pretty stellar designs. The photo above represents an underwater seabed with carvings of fish and deceased celebrities, aka, “sleeping with the fishes”. And below you see some stacked pumpkins with shaded carving on Frankenstein’s head.
Check out all the pictures to see some of the creative carvings their team came up with!
