The 2 Week Tattoo by Inkbox is the answer to my biggest issue with traditional tattoos — commitment!
I’ve been waiting years for something like this to come along! I’ve always wanted a tattoo. The individual expression and ability to get whatever you want; using your body as a canvas to outwardly show something of significance and meaning. There are just an endless array of positive connotations with having tattoos, but…. I have always lived by the phrase “my body is my temple”. This motto is something I live closely to and a contributing factor as to why I don’t have any tattoos, piercings, practice healthy eating, exercise, etc. You get one body in your lifetime and you should treat it with the utmost respect for being the complicated living creatures we are. Another significant problem I, like most everyone, run into whenever I consider getting a tattoo is the idea of committing to my choice for life. Whatever I chose to mark on my body will stay with me forever. For me that is an incredibly hard commitment to make even when I know the design has deep meaning. I don’t know about you but even in the past few years I’ve changed a great deal and will certainly have a different, adjusted, or updated opinion on most things years from now. And that’s what always freaks me out about permanent traditional tattoos.
Enter the 2 Week Tattoo by Inkbox!! This long lasting temporary tattoo is the perfect answer to my struggle!
I’m all about the geometric tattoos, especially with temporary tattoos because you can go more for aesthetic and less for personal significance. These geometric designs though do hold great world view meanings. Inkbox, along with the company’s designers, takes ideologies from around the world and crafts their tattoos to correspond.
Take the triple stacked triangle design Weltanschauung for example. A German word translating to ‘worldview’ or ‘world outlook’; a comprehensive image or personal philosophy of human life, the universe, and humanity’s relation to it. I simply adore the fact that Inkbox produces such meaningful temporary tattoos, such a step up from childhood cartoon temporary tattoos!
Then take the Gezellig design, a word that encompasses the heart of Dutch culture. The word is a perfect example of untranslatability, it does not have an English equivalent. Its meaning includes everything from cozy to friendly, from comfortable to relaxing, and from enjoyable to gregarious. Since learning of it, this is my new favorite word! Read this short blurb to gain a better grasp than my brief definition. It’s these meanings set forth from the designers and Inkbox that give weight to me proudly sporting the ink.
How It Works
The Look and feel of a real tattoo for 2 weeks!
“Inkbox tattoos work by sinking our patented formula into the top layer of your skin, which then reacts with organic compounds to change your skin’s colour dark blue/black. Our ink is safe for your skin, pain free and made from all natural ingredients. Traditional tattoos are permanent because they sit in your dermis. But inkbox tattoos sit in your epidermis and therefore only last 2-3 weeks, which is the natural regeneration time of your skin.” – Inkbox
The ‘inkstructions’ (as coined by Inkbox) are pretty simple and comparative to basic temporary tattoos. The magic lies within the ink and the length of time in which you apply pressure, 15 minutes.
Inkbox offers their very own detailed steps for application and multiple tips and tricks, but here are a few of my own I’d add as well.
- Get a friend to help you! It’ll make everything easier in aligning the tattoo just right and you’ll have someone to share the duty of applying pressure. And you’ll definitely need someone if you choose to apply the tattoo to your back. And including a friend would be a very Gezellig way to experience the process!
- If you’ve got extra gloves lying around like I do for working on DIY projects, go ahead and use them! Inkbox supplies you with one glove but doesn’t hurt to have extra!
- If you have medical wrap… use it! Applying even firm pressure can sound like a tedious task. After the initial minute or so of firm pressure, carefully wrap the tattoo to aid. Of course this only works for tattoos applied to your appendages so make sure you’ve got a strong friend if you’re applying the tattoo on your back, it’s all them!
And in addition to all the pre-made tattoos Inkbox offers, they also offer you the option of buying a bottle of the ink to do designs yourself! So if you’re a particularly gifted artist or want a custom temporary tattoo this option is for you!
Inkbox has thought of everything! The company is so transparent about how their product works and their shop is so easy to navigate. I love how the images they use as examples of the tattoos are that of real customers, not professional photos. It’s a company I’m proud to order from and will probably be making many future purchases to show off some of their other many other cool designs. Check out some of my other favorites and start shopping for those upcoming summer months! Still deciding myself which one I want to sport during vacation this summer.
