Hand-Painted Harry Potter Mug

My Dear… You Have The Grimm!

I know it will sound cliché, but receiving gifts isn’t half as fun as giving gifts. I absolutely love finding gifts that fit people’s personality and tastes perfectly; and if I can make the gift myself that’s even better! The DIY project I’m featuring in this post was one I made for a friend’s birthday. She’s a bit of a tea drinker and we have quite a few inside Harry Potter jokes so I decided to replicate the tea mug from probably my most favorite film of the series, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

The process is actually quite simple and I’ve referenced this process in another blog post using the same DecoArt markers. Check out the other post for a more detailed description of the process. This project was definitely a freehand style creation but I obviously used a movie still as my guide. You can use stencils and tools from DecoArt, but I prefer doing it all freehand.

I hope this inspires you to create something of your own! I attached a side-by-side of my mug with the one from the film, let me know what you think!
