Being the dead of winter we are all searching for ways to stay warm when venturing out into the cold that plagues this time of year. As I’m sure other men out there can attest, winter is an ideal time to grow out your beard for that little layer of added warmth. I know there is no scientific proof that hair grows faster in the colder months but for me it sure feels that way. In winter I can’t maintain a close shave (not that I like to, I avoid clean shaves at all costs!) to save my life. Perhaps the cold just makes the hair stand up more, but whatever the case, I’m all for getting some length on my beard in winter, just feels right.
Last year around this time I grew out my facial hair to a modest length for the third time in my life. The first two I never got as far as I wanted because of the itching. Ohhhh the itching! So this past go round I wanted to do it right and follow some better beard care practices. Beard wash, balm, and oil are game changers in making growing out your beard more enjoyable!
The balm and oil are for longer beards and I’ll get to them, but first, I want to talk about how Medicine Man’s Anti-Itch Beard Wash by OneDTQ Beard Care changed everything for me!! I have to say the smell is amazing, very clean and fresh yet outdoorsy and manly. In the past I only used normal face wash when cleansing my beard and thought nothing of it. Not until I made the switch did I really notice the difference in how this specialized cleanser makes for a much better wash. Nothing can completely cure the itching sensation of growing in a beard, but this Medicine Man’s Anti-Itch Beard Wash significantly brought down the itch factor. The cleanser removes the sebum and dead skin that cause excessive itchiness. The exfoliation aids in stimulating your hair to grow faster while the big white lather of the product leaves your beard conditioned and soft. Before I bought this water and oil based cleanser, I was a little apprehensive about actually feeling clean and not ‘oiled up’ after a wash and that could not have been further from the truth.
I love using this product even when my facial hair isn’t all that long to help keep my chin and neck clean. I’ve always had issues with ingrown hairs around the bottom of my neckline at my Adam’s apple and using this product has made that problem all but a distant memory! Did I also mention the wash is 100% natural and organic? Having a beard wash with no chemicals, fillers, or gums is highly important as they block pores and inhibit hair growth. In addition to being such a solid product, I love supporting New York businesses, especially a fellow Brooklyn neighbor like OneDTQ Beard Care. If you’re thinking of growing your beard I highly recommend picking up a bottle and making the whole process much more manageable! And one pump is all it takes so the bottle lasts a longgg time!
Now if you’re growing your beard out to be a full on beard, which I haven’t done for a while and want to again soon, it’s important to keep the beard conditioned. The Medicine Man’s Anti-Itch Beard Wash will keep your hair clean and combat the itch with its many oils, but it’s also a good idea to add straight beard oil into your routine. The very highly rated Tree Ranger Beard Oil by BeardBrand cannot be beat! Keep that beard soft and add another layer in beating the beard itch! And as your beard gets longer, you’ll probably want to help keep the hair styled in a certain way. Wild Willie’s Beard Butter Balm by The Manskape Co. is the perfect hybrid conditioner and styler that gives a decent hold while keeping the hair smooth and free of heavy gels. Working with all three of these products will absolutely help you in your quest to maintaining the perfect facial hair. So as BeardBrand says… #ShaveLessBeardMore
